Survey on the career paths of postdoctoral researchers
About your participation
If you have received an invitation to participate, you have been identified in your institution's records as holding a research and/or teaching position at this institution. Eligibility is based on the type of position you hold (a research and/or teaching role) rather than on your exact job title. You may therefore receive an invitation even if your position is not formally labelled “postdoc”, as long as you carry out postdoctoral-type tasks and meet the survey’s criteria. If you have received an invitation, we warmly encourage you to take part.
Every response is valuable. Whether you are pursuing an academic career, considering opportunities beyond academia, or are still exploring your options, your experiences and perspectives will help ensure that the survey reflects the full diversity of postdoctoral careers in Switzerland.
The survey takes around 30 minutes to complete, and a little longer if you hold several positions or are affiliated with more than one institution. You may pause the questionnaire at any time and return later using the same personalised link.
You will receive the personalised link to the survey at the email address of the institution you are affiliated with. Please note that your invitation link is personal to you and should not be forwarded to colleagues.
Some researchers may be affiliated with more than one participating institution and may therefore receive more than one invitation. If this applies to you, please complete the survey only once. Your responses will be counted regardless of which invitation link you use. If you are affiliated with more than one participating institution, the questionnaire will also ask for the institutional email address(es) you use at the other institution(s), so that your single response can be correctly linked to each institution. These addresses are used solely for this matching and for no other purpose.
Your participation in the survey is entirely voluntary. You may choose not to answer certain questions. You may also interrupt your participation at any time, without having to give a reason.
At the end of the questionnaire, you will be asked whether you agree to be contacted again at a later stage for a possible follow-up survey. Your response to this question is entirely voluntary and has no impact on your participation in the current survey.
The questionnaire is available in English, French, German and Italian. If you would like to restart the questionnaire in another language, if you were unable to complete it, or if the survey ended earlier than expected (for example if you were not eligible but believe this is a mistake), please contact us at postdocsurvey@forscenter.ch and we will be happy to help.
